To address the narrative that Students are leaving District 89 in droves, we dug into the IllinoisReportCard.com data.  Dig might be a little overstated, and we admit this might be our least analytical post to date.

The answer is No, they are not.

The total student enrollment in the school/district is based on the enrollment as of October 1 of the reporting year. District level enrollment includes students attending a school in the district and students placed in private schools by the district and funded by the district. The student enrollment excludes:

Students given vouchers to attend private schools.

Students placed by their parents in private schools whose tuition is paid for by their parents, but who receive special education services from their home district.

Schools/districts use enrollment figures and trends to determine financial needs within the district. Enrollment numbers may affect bussing, staffing, building requirements, or boundary configurations.
